Germany’s manufacturing PMI rose to 54.1 in August, beating forecasts as output and export sales hit early-2022 highs.
Germany’s flash manufacturing PMI climbed to 54.1 in August, up from 52.2 in July and above the 52.0 forecast. The increase marks the fastest growth in output, new orders, and export sales since early 2022, driven by post-uncertainty catch-up and defense spending.
The prior month’s reading stood at 52.2, while services PMI dipped to 48.5, missing expectations of 50.1. Composite PMI held at 51.0, slightly below the anticipated 51.3. Sentiment among manufacturers improved, though supply risks and service sector weakness persist.
The data suggests a potential shift in momentum, with employment in services rising and price inflation easing, which may support demand in the coming months.
