Certified organic sales in Australia reached A$1.02bn in 2024/25, driven by 11.9% domestic growth and rising exports to over 40 markets.
Australia’s certified organic sector surpassed A$1bn in annual direct sales for the first time, reaching A$1.02bn in the 2024/25 financial year. The growth was fueled by an 11.9% year-on-year increase in domestic retail sales, which hit A$657.6m, alongside export values of up to $364m.
The rise in sales occurred despite broader cost-of-living pressures, with volume, buyer numbers, and purchase frequency all increasing. Industry research noted that organic prices rose in line with the wider food sector, while discounting activity declined.
Exports of Australian organic products expanded to more than 40 markets, underscoring the sector’s global reach. Industry leaders highlighted the potential for further growth, citing premium market access and consumer demand for sustainable practices.
