The Australian Dollar climbed 0.56% against the US Dollar to 0.7127 on Wednesday, driven by a decline in US yields following a Treasury bond buyback announcement. The move offset hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve’s July meeting minutes, which highlighted concerns over persistent inflation and potential further tightening.

The US Treasury revealed plans to double its long-end bond purchases from 2 billion to at least 4 billion USD between September 9 and November 4. The program aims to address elevated yields, which have remained near yearly highs amid geopolitical tensions and rising energy prices. Meanwhile, Fed minutes indicated policymakers debated a more restrictive stance, with dissenters favoring tighter policy if inflation fails to ease.

Traders now await Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at the upcoming Jackson Hole Symposium for further policy clues.
