Commerzbank warns 8 bcm monthly LNG inflows could deplete EU gas storage by March, lifting power prices amid Asian demand.
European gas storage levels may drop to 0% by March if liquefied natural gas inflows remain at 8 billion cubic meters per month, increasing price risks. Current import levels would leave storage at just 70% by October, far below seasonal norms.
A more realistic scenario of 10 bcm monthly inflows would still leave storage at 16% before the replenishment phase. Strong Asian demand for US LNG and potential delays in Qatari shipments could further tighten supply, pressuring prices.
Higher gas costs are expected to feed into European electricity prices, amplifying upward pressure on power markets.
