July fuel exports rose 6.7% month-on-month but fell 12.9% year-on-year, with diesel exports hitting 810,000 tons amid tight global supplies.
China exported 4.65 million tons of refined fuel products in July, a 6.7% increase from June, though annual exports declined 12.9%. The rise was driven by a sharp 88% jump in diesel exports, reaching 810,000 tons, matching levels last seen in July 2025.
The surge in diesel shipments comes as global stocks tighten due to disruptions from conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Monthly diesel exports were 50% above the recent average, reflecting strong overseas demand.
Refined products included gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and bunkering fuel, with diesel accounting for nearly a fifth of total exports.
