Alphabet is looking to raise about A$5 billion ($3.6 billion) in its debut bond offering in Australia, according to Bloomberg, as U.S. tech companies continue to tap debt markets to fund artificial intelligence spending.

Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources, reported that initial price guidance could be released as soon as Tuesday, with the notes expected to price the day after

The transaction is expected to span four tranches, with the longest tenor reaching 20 years. The offering would add a new currency to an already wide-ranging debt program. Alphabet sold ¥576.5 billion ($3.6 billion) in yen-denominated bonds in a record-setting offering by a foreign company earlier this year.

Earlier this month the company closed a $25 billion U.S. dollar bond deal, building on a $20 billion offering from February, and throughout 2026 has tapped markets denominated in Swiss francs, British pounds, euros, Canadian dollars, and Japanese yen. Alphabet also raised nearly $85 billion through an equity offering. The Australian market’s limited exposure to tech issuers may work in Alphabet’s favor.
