Econergy has finalized €229m ($265m) in financing for its Părău 2 solar and battery energy storage project in Romania. The funding, led by a six-bank consortium, will develop a 342MWp solar plant paired with a 150MW/300MWh battery system in Brașov County.

The project, currently under construction, is slated for commercial operation in early 2028. The EBRD is contributing up to €120m, including €57m in an ‘A’ loan and €63m in a ‘B’ loan, with additional facilities covering VAT and CfD participation. An EU InvestEU guarantee backs €114.4m of the main facility.

Părău 2 aims to improve Romania’s power system flexibility by storing and dispatching renewable energy on demand. The financing structure reflects growing investor confidence in large-scale energy storage solutions in Eastern Europe.
