A hacker is selling a database of 678,437 French tax records allegedly stolen from the country’s tax authority in June. The breach includes sensitive data such as income figures, addresses, and tax identifiers, exposing individuals and businesses to targeted scams and identity theft.
The leaked records cover 392,867 individuals and 285,570 professionals, with 26,805 taxpayers reporting incomes of at least $116,000. Among them, 386 have incomes above $1.16 million, and eight exceed $11.6 million. Bitcoin holders are particularly at risk, as criminals could use the data for phishing or physical attacks.
French cybersecurity outlet FrenchBreaches confirmed the breach, noting the data includes names, birth details, contact information, and family status. The tax authority has acknowledged the intrusion but provided no further details on the scope or response.
