Dartmouth College’s $9 billion endowment saw its crypto ETF holdings drop 15% in value over three months due to falling digital asset prices.
Dartmouth College’s endowment reported a $2 million decline in its crypto-related holdings, reducing the total value to $12.4 million as of June 30. The drop followed a 15% decrease in the value of its positions in the Bitwise Solana staking ETF, Grayscale Ethereum staking ETF, and BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin ETF, despite no change in share count.
The endowment previously held $14.6 million in these assets as of March 31. The decline mirrored broader crypto market trends, with Bitcoin (BTC) falling 7.7% to $62,915, Solana (SOL) dropping 9.6% to $75.11, and Ether (ETH) declining 10.8% to $1,875 over the same period.
Dartmouth became one of the first U.S. universities to invest in digital assets in 2025. Comparatively, Harvard’s $57 billion endowment liquidated its $87 million position in BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum ETF earlier this year.
