The US Securities and Exchange Commission postponed a Friday meeting intended to propose new cryptocurrency offering regulations. The agency cited an “unforeseen scheduling issue” for the delay, though no new date was provided.

The meeting was expected to address a tailored regime for crypto asset investment contracts. The cancellation follows the Senate’s adjournment for August recess without voting on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for digital assets.

SEC Chair Paul Atkins previously indicated the agency would proceed with rulemaking if Congress did not act. Markets await clarity on whether the SEC will move forward independently or await legislative action.
