The SEC postpones its tokenization exemption plan, citing ongoing negotiations over crypto provisions in the Clarity Act.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has again delayed its tokenization “innovation exemption” plan, with no immediate timeline for release. The postponement follows internal discussions about Section 10505 of the Clarity Act, where stakeholders are negotiating tokenization provisions. Progress on the exemption may stall until the bill’s legislative path is resolved.
Earlier this month, the SEC had signaled progress on crypto-asset financing rules under “Regulation Crypto Assets,” but a scheduled public meeting was canceled due to a scheduling conflict. The agency stated it remains committed to providing regulatory clarity for the digital asset industry.
Market participants had anticipated the exemption could streamline tokenized asset offerings, but delays may prolong uncertainty for issuers and investors.
