Tokyo-listed firm confirms 5,014 BTC moved between custodial wallets, denying liquidation amid market speculation.
Metaplanet denied selling Bitcoin after a $320 million transfer of 5,014 BTC between company wallets sparked online speculation. CEO Simon Gerovich stated the movement was a routine custody operation, with no sales executed and holdings unchanged at 43,000 BTC, valued at $3 billion.
The firm’s transparent wallet tracking allowed real-time monitoring of the transfer, fueling rumors amid recent Bitcoin sales by other treasury firms. Metaplanet has aggressively expanded its Bitcoin reserves, purchasing 5,075 BTC in Q1 2026 and an additional 1,005 BTC in June.
Metaplanet simultaneously launched BitBonds, a fixed-rate debt program aimed at raising capital without selling Bitcoin or issuing new shares. The initiative may fund future Bitcoin acquisitions or corporate needs, depending on market conditions.
