Tokyo-listed firm introduces unsecured bonds yielding up to 4.3% as a new bitcoin-linked funding tool.

Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed bitcoin treasury company, completed its first private debt sale under its new BitBonds program, raising 200 million yen ($1.3 million). The unsecured bonds offer annual interest rates of 4% to 4.3% and mature in roughly three years.

The bonds provide a fixed-rate funding channel alongside existing equity and equity-linked securities. Future issuance will depend on market demand, funding needs, and conditions. Investors face exposure to Metaplanet’s credit risk and bitcoin-linked balance sheet volatility.

The inaugural sale included four privately placed series, with solicitation closing on August 13, according to the company’s disclosure.
