Riot Platforms signed a $9.1 billion, 20-year agreement with AI lab Anthropic to supply 191 megawatts of data center capacity at its Rockdale, Texas, campus. The deal includes two five-year extension options that could raise the total value to $16.1 billion, with capacity coming online in stages through June 2028.
The contract follows a prior agreement with Advanced Micro Devices, bringing Riot’s total signed capacity to 241 megawatts and $9.8 billion in long-term contracted revenue. Riot arranged $573 million in interim financing to fund early construction, aiming for a permanent credit backstop.
Riot’s stock surged over 25% in after-hours trading after the announcement, which coincided with second-quarter results showing a 14% revenue increase to $174.2 million but a wider net loss.
