Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday that negotiations between Oman and Iran have reached a critical stage, with Doha supporting efforts to ease regional tensions. The spokesperson emphasized the goal of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, citing positive feedback from both nations on security and navigation guarantees.
Prior to the announcement, WTI crude traded near an intraday high of $83.57, following a 6.66% gain on Monday. The talks’ advancement contrasted with recent geopolitical risks that had supported oil prices, though broader supply-demand dynamics remain a key driver.
Following the comments, WTI crude fell sharply to around $81.25, paring some of the previous session’s gains while maintaining most of the upward momentum.
