The deal supports Petrobras’ offshore oil and gas production, targeting 22 million cubic metres of daily gas processing capacity by 2031.
Siemens Energy will supply power generation and gas compression systems for two floating production, storage, and offloading vessels (FPSOs) in Brazil’s Sergipe-Alagoas basin. The contract, awarded by SBM Offshore, covers equipment for Petrobras’ P-81 and P-87 platforms, part of the SEAP I and SEAP II developments.
The platforms are expected to produce up to 240,000 barrels of oil and process 22 million cubic metres of natural gas daily. The project aims to reduce flaring and reinjection by channeling associated gas onshore via a dedicated pipeline. Initial production is slated for 2030, with gas exports starting in 2031.
Siemens Energy will deliver 16 modular systems, including gas turbine generators and compressors, to support electricity generation and gas processing. The agreement underscores Brazil’s push to expand offshore energy output and infrastructure.
