Italy’s trade surplus widened in June as exports rose 9.8% year-on-year, outpacing a 13.2% import increase.
Italy posted a €4.23 billion trade surplus in June, up from prior levels, driven by a 1.6% monthly rise in exports. Imports climbed 1.2% over the same period, though annual growth for imports outpaced exports at 13.2% versus 9.8%.
Exports to EU countries surged 6.7% month-on-month and 15.1% year-on-year, while non-EU shipments fell 3.6% monthly but rose 4.1% annually. Imports from non-EU markets jumped 18.7%, compared with a 9.1% increase from EU partners.
The surplus was split into a €1.58 billion surplus with EU nations and a €2.66 billion surplus with non-EU countries, reflecting stronger intra-EU trade dynamics.
