Boeing divests three subsidiaries to eVTOL startup Archer in exchange for nearly 20% equity and board representation.
Boeing will sell its subsidiaries Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu to Archer Aviation in a deal expected to close by the end of 2026. The transaction includes Boeing taking a nearly 20% stake in Archer and receiving warrants, along with board nomination rights.
Wisk has conducted over 1,700 flight tests of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, while Insitu generates more than $200 million in annual revenue from uncrewed aircraft systems. SkyGrid provides air traffic management technology for automated airspace. The deal aligns with Boeing’s divestiture strategy under CEO Kelly Ortberg.
Archer CEO Adam Goldstein stated the acquisition accelerates revenue growth and business scale. Boeing retains access to Wisk’s autonomous flight technology through a separate collaboration agreement.
