The automaker aims to extend its F-Series dominance into electric vehicles with a lower-cost model underpinned by a new platform.
Ford Motor Co. (F) unveiled pricing for its Fathom electric pickup at $28,350, targeting affordability in the EV market. The company has invested $5 billion in the model, which is smaller than the F-150 but designed to seat five and leverage a new Universal Electric Vehicle platform for future models.
The Fathom follows the success of the Maverick, a compact pickup starting at $28,145, which sold 155,000 units last year. Ford’s second-quarter adjusted EBIT rose to $2.5 billion from $2.1 billion year-over-year, with margins expanding to 5.2% from 4.3%, reflecting operational improvements.
The Fathom will include BlueCruise hardware, with Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities expected by 2028. Management has raised full-year guidance, signaling confidence in the EV transition.
