Bitcoin’s controversial BIP-110 soft fork proposal has entered its mandatory signaling phase after block 961,632 was mined. The update aims to limit non-financial data on the network but faces strong opposition from miners and key industry figures.

Miner support for BIP-110 has remained below 2.5%, well short of the 55% threshold needed for activation. Prominent voices, including Michael Saylor and Adam Back, have criticized the proposal, while supporters advocate for a user-activated soft fork (UASF) to bypass miner resistance.

Under a UASF, node operators could reject blocks from non-supporting miners, potentially forcing compliance or excluding them from the network. The outcome remains uncertain as the signaling period progresses.
