Reform UK chair Lee Anderson has called for an investigation into a reported $50,000 political donation linked to former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. The request targets Defense Secretary Wes Streeting over contributions from Labour for the Long Term, a think tank that received $675,000 from Bankman-Fried before funneling funds to Streeting in 2022 and 2023.

The move follows heightened scrutiny of crypto-related political funding in the UK. Reform leader Nigel Farage faces a by-election next week amid his own crypto scandal, having received $6.7 million from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and support from a convicted fraudster linked to a crypto casino.

UK law permits unincorporated associations to donate over $675 to politicians, creating potential loopholes for foreign-linked contributions. The probe request adds to ongoing debates over transparency in political financing.
