AT&T completed a $23 billion purchase of wireless spectrum licenses from EchoStar to upgrade its network. The deal grants exclusive access to radio frequency bands, improving service quality and reducing disruptions like dropped calls.
The move follows price increases for AT&T’s wireless plans, including a $10 hike for single-line customers and $20 for multi-line users. Additional fees, such as the Administrative Fee, rose by $1 per line in August.
Spectrum licenses, issued by the FCC, are critical for maintaining competitive mobile services as demand grows. The acquisition was first announced in August and finalized recently.
