The approval enables Bybit Payments GmbH to offer regulated e-money and payment solutions alongside its MiCAR-authorised crypto services.
Bybit.eu has expanded its European operations after Bybit Payments GmbH obtained an Electronic Money Institution licence from Austria’s Financial Market Authority. The licence permits the firm to provide regulated e-money and payment services, including future initiatives like open-banking and merchant solutions, via the Bybit.eu platform.
The Austrian entity received MiCAR authorisation in May 2025, covering crypto-asset services separately from the EMI licence. Bybit Payments GmbH will focus on payment capabilities, while Bybit EU GmbH retains responsibility for crypto-related offerings. Both entities operate under distinct regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance.
The move strengthens Bybit’s regulatory footprint in Europe, combining payment and crypto services under a unified platform. The company highlighted the licence as a key step in its long-term European strategy, enabling broader financial service integration.
