Boltz has indefinitely suspended its Bitcoin swap service, citing a surge in AI-assisted attacks that have overwhelmed its security measures. The company announced the shutdown on August 3, 2026, with no estimated timeline for resumption, stating it cannot operate safely under current conditions.

The non-custodial platform, which facilitates swaps between the Lightning Network and Bitcoin’s base layer, holds approximately $262,000 in total value locked, according to DeFiLlama. Boltz emphasized that no user funds were at risk due to its non-custodial model, though transaction volumes were not disclosed.

The decision follows months of escalating automated probes targeting Boltz’s infrastructure. The company clarified the suspension was not triggered by a single incident but a sustained increase in AI-driven threats.
