A former FBI supervisor allegedly used bureau systems to access and transfer cryptocurrency linked to an adversarial nation.
A former FBI supervisory agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, has been charged with stealing nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency. He allegedly used internal FBI systems to obtain access credentials for wallets tied to an adversarial country and transferred funds to accounts he controlled.
The criminal complaint states Yaroch admitted to making about 10 unauthorized transfers starting in late 2024. He estimated the total taken was less than USD 1 million and later moved some assets to Suilend to earn yield.
