The AUD/JPY cross climbed to 110.70 in early European trading on Tuesday, ending a six-day losing streak. The rebound follows coordinated intervention by the US and Japan to stabilize the yen after its historic decline against the dollar.

Japan’s finance ministry and the US Treasury intervened after the yen hit its weakest level since 1986. Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama stated the action aimed to counter excessive volatility, with authorities signaling readiness for further steps if needed.

Despite the recovery, analysts warn upside potential for AUD/JPY remains limited. Bank of America’s Shusuke Yamada noted intervention can trigger market inflection points, though its impact may be short-lived without broader context.
