AngloGold Ashanti posts $1bn in Q2 2026 headline earnings, driven by higher gold prices and cost controls.
AngloGold Ashanti reported a 58% year-on-year increase in Q2 2026 headline earnings to $1bn, up from $639m in the same period last year. The rise was attributed to a 35% increase in the average gold price per ounce, which reached $4,446, alongside disciplined cost management.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 46% to $2bn, while free cash flow rose 36% to $727m. The company also declared an interim dividend of $364m, or $0.72 per share, bringing total H1 distributions to $949m.
Cash generation from operations increased 49% to $1.8bn, with cash tax payments more than doubling to $542m. The company expects quarterly tax payments to range between $230m and $250m for the remainder of the year.
