Investments in ZILO and Licuido aim to expand institutional infrastructure without directly boosting XRP demand.
Ripple has invested in two British firms, ZILO and Licuido, to enhance the XRP Ledger’s infrastructure with regulated record-keeping and collateral tools. The moves target institutional adoption but do not require XRP for settlement, as transactions use the RLUSD stablecoin instead.
ZILO provides transfer agency software used by State Street and Fidelity International, while Licuido enables institutions to pledge money market fund shares as collateral, targeting $10 trillion in liquidity. Both firms previously collaborated on Aviva Investors’ XRP Ledger-based fund launched last week.
XRP trades at $1.07, down 42% year-to-date, with the investments unlikely to drive immediate demand for the token. Network fees remain minimal, at 0.00001 XRP per transaction.
