Ken Griffin’s Citadel Securities makes its third major crypto bet in eight months, targeting tokenized securities trading infrastructure.
Citadel Securities, led by billionaire Ken Griffin, invested $400 million in Crypto.com at a $20 billion valuation on July 16, 2026. The deal marks the exchange’s first outside capital raise in a decade and aims to expand its tokenized stocks and derivatives trading features.
The investment follows Citadel’s $200 million stake in Kraken in November 2025 and a $500 million fundraise for Ripple at a $40 billion valuation. All three bets focus on exchanges facilitating tokenized securities, bridging crypto and traditional markets.
As a top Wall Street market maker, Citadel is securing infrastructure for potential crypto market-making operations, signaling long-term interest in digital asset trading.
