The Japanese retail group secures $1.91bn via share sales to deepen digital payments and AI-driven store partnerships.

Seven & i Holdings has raised $1.91bn (Y300bn) through a third-party allotment of treasury shares to SoftBank, PayPay, and Sumitomo Mitsui Card. Each investor will subscribe Y100bn for 48.30 million common shares in the company.

The capital injection supports a strategic alliance aimed at integrating 7-Eleven’s 20,000-store network with the partners’ digital platforms, AI, and customer data capabilities. The deal follows prior collaborations but marks a deeper push into digital and physical retail integration.

Seven & i stated the partnerships will enhance store productivity and create new revenue streams by combining in-store and digital customer experiences. No immediate market reaction was disclosed.
