The deal marks Alimentation Couche-Tard’s largest acquisition, adding 13,000 stores and 4.3 million daily transactions in Poland.
Alimentation Couche-Tard (TSE:ATD) announced its largest acquisition to date, securing a controlling stake in Poland’s Żabka Group. The deal aligns with the company’s “Core Plus More” growth strategy, combining convenience retail operations with complementary strengths in food, digital engagement, and supply chain efficiency.
Żabka, Poland’s leading convenience retailer, generates $7.4 billion in revenue, $1.1 billion in adjusted EBITDA, and $300 million in net profit. The company operates 13,000 stores and processes 4.3 million transactions daily, with a franchise model praised for scalability and cash generation. Over 10 million customers engage with its digital ecosystem annually, and 20% of transactions include Quick Meal Solutions products.
CEO Alex Miller called the transaction a “transformational investment,” highlighting Żabka’s proprietary food offerings, including 16 million pizzas sold annually. The acquisition is expected to enhance Couche-Tard’s market position in Europe and expand its digital and food service capabilities.
