Bitcoin and ether decline on July’s final day, capping a month with the sector’s best performance in a year amid equity market strength.
Bitcoin and ether fell on July’s last trading day, with BTC down 1.31% to $63,870 and ETH dropping 1.40% to $1,890. The declines contrasted with gains in equities, including a 15% surge in South Korea’s Kospi and a 1.23% rise in Nasdaq 100 futures.
The CoinDesk 20 Index is set to post an 8.7% gain for July, its strongest monthly advance since July 2025. Despite the late pullback, the index remains positive for the first month in three, recovering from recent losses tied to Middle East tensions and hawkish Federal Reserve commentary.
Derivatives markets showed mixed positioning, with crypto’s weakness diverging from broader risk-on sentiment in traditional markets. UNI and ADA bucked the trend, rising 9.30% and 4.09%, respectively, on platform-specific catalysts.
