Italy’s preliminary consumer price index rose 2.8% year-over-year in July, matching economist forecasts and slowing from June’s 3.0% print. The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) climbed 2.9%, slightly above the 2.8% consensus but also down from the prior month’s 3.0%.

The data aligns with broader Eurozone trends, where preliminary July CPI held at 2.9%, reinforcing expectations for steady inflation across the region. Markets had anticipated a modest deceleration in Italy’s inflation, following recent declines in energy and food prices.

Traders are now focused on upcoming U.S. CPI data and Middle East developments, which could influence global risk sentiment and central bank policy outlooks.
