Meta’s aggressive AI investments cut net income by 14% and erased $25 billion from Zuckerberg’s fortune in 2026.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth fell by $25 billion to $209 billion after the company’s AI-driven spending spree pressured earnings. Meta’s net income dropped 14% to $15.9 billion despite a 28% revenue increase to $60.8 billion in the latest quarter.
The decline follows Meta’s commitment to $130-145 billion in 2026 capital expenditures, much of it directed toward NVIDIA chips to compete in AI. Ad impressions rose 14%, but weak guidance for Q3 2026 revenue ($61-64 billion) underscored profitability concerns.
Zuckerberg’s wealth now sits just above Michael Dell’s $204 billion, with losses tied to Meta’s struggle to close the gap with AI leaders like OpenAI and Alphabet.
