Investors await Eurozone GDP data and the Bank of England’s policy announcement, with markets pricing in no change to UK rates.
The Euro retreated slightly from a four-week high of 0.8585 against the British Pound, trading at 0.8577 as markets brace for key economic releases. The shift follows a bullish trend but reflects caution ahead of the Bank of England’s (BoE) monetary policy decision and Eurozone GDP figures.
Eurozone GDP is expected to show a 0.2% quarterly rebound in Q2, reversing a 0.1% contraction in Q1, while annual growth is forecast to accelerate to 0.5%. Unemployment is projected to hold steady at 6.2%, and consumer confidence is seen improving modestly to -15.9 in July.
The BoE is widely anticipated to keep its Bank Rate unchanged at 3.75%, though investors will scrutinize dissenting votes and Governor Bailey’s remarks for hints on future tightening. The outcome could sway GBP volatility in the near term.
