India’s industrial production expanded 7.3% year-on-year in June, the strongest pace since September 2022. The jump was led by a 7.8% rise in manufacturing and a 10.6% increase in electricity generation, reflecting higher government spending and robust demand.

Economists had anticipated a 5.7% gain, up from May’s revised 5.0%. Manufacturing growth accelerated from 5.2% in May, while mining rebounded to 1% growth after a 1.4% decline. Capital goods output rose 14.2%, though slightly below May’s 15.5%.

April-June industrial output grew 5.8%, nearly doubling the 3.4% rise in the same period last year. Analysts expect the momentum to persist amid sustained consumption trends.
