June’s $7.7 billion drop in stablecoin market capitalization marks the steepest contraction since May 2022’s Terra-Luna crisis.
The stablecoin market shed $7.7 billion in June, its largest monthly decline since the Terra-Luna collapse in May 2022. Total capitalization fell to approximately $300 billion, down roughly $10 billion from its May peak.
The drop contrasts with record transaction volumes, which surged to $1.79 trillion, up 63% from May and 125% year-over-year. The divergence suggests stablecoins remain widely used for transfers and settlements despite reduced circulating supply.
No immediate market reaction was reported, though the contraction may signal shifting liquidity dynamics in crypto markets.
