The XAUt tokenized gold asset secures compliance approval, targeting Islamic finance institutions amid growing demand for Shariah-aligned digital assets.

Tether’s XAUt gold-backed token received Shariah certification, enabling access to the $3 trillion Islamic finance sector. The move follows rising demand for compliant digital assets as firms address religious restrictions on speculation and interest.

Earlier efforts include Bahrain’s AlAbraaj Restaurants Group adopting a Bitcoin treasury in 2025 and Palm Azgar Finance expanding its Shariah-compliant PUSD stablecoin in April. Dubai’s regulatory expansion, with 50 virtual asset licenses issued, further signals growing institutional adoption in the region.

The certification positions XAUt alongside existing compliant stablecoins, offering Islamic institutions a regulated gold-linked digital asset for transactions and settlements.
