Nvidia maintained its dominance in the AI chip market during the first half of 2026, controlling 80% to 90% of the data center GPU segment. The company’s data center revenue reached approximately $194 billion in its most recent fiscal year, outpacing AMD’s entire data center business by more than 11 times.

AMD reported record data center revenue, up 57% year-over-year, driven by its MI400 chip lineup. However, Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform ramped into full production, with demand visibility extending into the trillions of dollars. Intel lagged behind in both market share and investor sentiment.

Despite Nvidia’s strong performance, its stock rose only modestly in the first half of 2026, as lofty expectations limited further gains. AMD, meanwhile, saw its shares surge as Wall Street embraced its AI growth narrative.
