Berkshire Hathaway sold 52 million Apple shares while increasing its Alphabet position, now 8% of its equity holdings.
Berkshire Hathaway reduced its Apple stake by over 52 million shares in the past year, trimming its largest equity position. The conglomerate simultaneously increased its holding in Alphabet, which now accounts for approximately 8% of its portfolio, up from a smaller base.
Apple remains Berkshire’s top equity investment at around 21% of its portfolio, though down from previous levels. Alphabet has delivered stronger shareholder returns than Apple over the past one- and five-year periods, despite Apple’s recent revenue growth driven by iPhone upgrades.
The shift reflects Berkshire’s ongoing reallocation strategy as it builds liquidity, though Warren Buffett previously acknowledged selling Apple shares prematurely.
