Brookfield will acquire Aypa Power from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners for an enterprise value of $7bn, including $3bn in equity. The deal expands Brookfield’s footprint in the battery energy storage sector, a critical component for grid reliability amid transmission constraints.

Aypa Power operates 6.5GW of battery storage capacity across the US and Canada, with a development pipeline exceeding 20GW. The company is the largest stand-alone battery storage developer in North America, targeting regions with capacity limitations.

The transaction includes Aypa’s project portfolio, development operations, and a 200-person team. Brookfield highlighted the strategic fit, citing Aypa’s growth pipeline and its own capabilities in integrated energy solutions.
