The Goldman Sachs S&P 500 Premium Income ETF (GPIX) has amassed $4.85 billion in assets, delivering an 8.2% yield through monthly distributions. The fund replicates the S&P 500 and sells FLEX call options on 25%-75% of its holdings, currently near 38%, to generate income.

GPIX’s flexible approach contrasts with peers like XYLD, which sells calls on 100% of its portfolio. The fund’s 19% one-year return matches the S&P 500, but its 34% tech concentration poses risks if the sector declines.

Investors have driven rapid growth, though questions remain about the sustainability of the distribution amid market volatility.
