Spain’s Cellnex explores strategic moves after its market value fell over 50% from a 40 billion euro peak in 2021.
Cellnex is evaluating strategic options, including a potential take-private deal or merger with a competitor, as its market capitalization has dropped to less than half of its 2021 peak of 40 billion euros. Investor concerns over debt levels and consolidation among telecom customers have pressured shares.
The company’s shares surged over 5% following reports of the strategic review. Earlier discussions with a consortium backed by DigitalBridge Group and Deutsche Telekom, including a possible tie-up with GD Towers, did not advance beyond preliminary stages.
Neither Cellnex nor the consortium parties provided immediate comment on the developments.
