ABL Group will oversee critical marine operations for Papua New Guinea’s first offshore floating storage and offloading facility.
ABL Group has secured a marine warranty survey (MWS) contract from Oil Search (PNG), a Santos subsidiary, for Papua New Guinea’s inaugural offshore floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility. The project will support equipment supply, transportation, installation, and commissioning across multiple international locations, including India, Indonesia, and the UK, as well as offshore PNG operations.
The FSO unit will be integrated into the Kutubu Pipeline System at the Kumul Marine Terminal, handling liquid hydrocarbons such as crude oil and condensate from regional oilfields. Gas produced alongside these liquids will be directed to the PNG LNG project. ABL’s scope includes supervising pipe load-outs, mooring deployment, and flexible riser installations, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.
ABL’s role spans multiple phases, from equipment load-out in India and Indonesia to final hook-up and commissioning in PNG. The project marks a key development in PNG’s offshore energy infrastructure, enhancing storage and offloading capabilities for the region’s oil and gas production.
