AMD launches integrated AI data center hardware, securing a $5 billion investment and 2GW GPU deployment deal with Anthropic.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. introduced its Helios rack-scale AI system and Instinct MI455X GPUs, targeting Nvidia’s dominance in data center chips. The platform combines EPYC CPUs, Pensando networking chips, and ROCm software for AI training and inference.
The launch follows recent customer commitments, including a partnership with AI startup Anthropic to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of MI450 Series GPUs starting in early 2027. AMD also announced a $5 billion strategic equity investment in Anthropic, alongside a multi-year engineering collaboration to optimize AI workloads.
AMD aims to accelerate its ROCm software development and integrate Anthropic’s Claude AI across its engineering teams, reinforcing its push into the AI infrastructure market.
