India’s ICICI Bank posts a 15.9% year-on-year increase in Q1 net profit to Rs. 14,804.50 crore, driven by lower provisions and income growth.

ICICI Bank reported a 15.9% year-on-year increase in Q1 net profit to Rs. 14,804.50 crore, supported by a 5.4% rise in total income to Rs. 54,246.84 crore. Lower provisions aided profitability, while basic EPS grew 15.3% to Rs. 20.65.

The bank’s asset quality improved, with gross and net non-performing asset (NPA) ratios declining from a year earlier. Total income growth was modest compared to the prior quarter, but profit expansion outpaced revenue gains.

Shares may react positively to the earnings beat and improved asset quality metrics, though market response will depend on broader sector trends.
