The $1.8 trillion asset manager argues crypto networks are essential for autonomous AI transactions, favoring Solana and Ethereum.

Franklin Templeton said agentic AI, which executes autonomous transactions, will rely on blockchain infrastructure rather than traditional payment systems. The firm highlighted a “speed gap” advantage of crypto networks for AI-driven consumer transactions.

The asset manager, overseeing $1.8 trillion, contends that investing in cryptocurrencies like Solana and Ethereum is necessary to capture the economic value of the AI revolution. This contrasts with equities like Nvidia, which it views as insufficient for full AI exposure.

Franklin Templeton’s report cites AI advisory firm Capgemini, describing the shift from reactive chatbots to autonomous systems capable of multi-step task execution. The firm asserts blockchain adoption will accelerate as agentic AI expands.
