Early Warning Services faces continued legal action after a judge rejected its bid to dismiss a lawsuit over alleged fraud facilitation.
A New York state court judge has denied Early Warning Services’ request to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the state attorney general in August 2025. The case accuses the Zelle parent company of enabling widespread fraud through its payment network, according to court documents.
The lawsuit, initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleges that EWS failed to implement adequate safeguards, leading to significant financial losses for users. The company, owned by major U.S. banks, had sought to dismiss the case on procedural grounds but will now proceed to litigation.
Shares of banks with ownership stakes in EWS showed minimal reaction in after-hours trading, as the ruling does not immediately impose financial penalties or operational changes.
