Tesla’s second-quarter deliveries exceeded Wall Street expectations by 74,000 vehicles amid higher gasoline prices and prior-year headwinds.

Tesla reported 480,126 vehicle deliveries in the second quarter of 2026, a 25% increase from 384,122 in the same period last year. The figure surpassed Wall Street’s consensus estimate of 406,000 deliveries, marking a significant recovery after a challenging 2025.

The year-over-year growth follows a period of depressed sales in 2025, driven by backlash against CEO Elon Musk’s political activities and rising competition in the EV sector. Analysts noted the rebound was partly fueled by external factors, including geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that pushed gasoline prices higher.

Higher fuel costs may have accelerated demand for electric vehicles, offsetting prior headwinds. The delivery beat provides a positive signal for Tesla’s near-term outlook, though broader market dynamics remain a key driver.
