U.S. electricity consumption is forecast to reach 4,269 billion kilowatt-hours in 2026 and climb to 4,399 billion kilowatt-hours in 2027, marking record demand. The increase aligns with federal goals to expand nuclear capacity from 100 gigawatts to 400 gigawatts by 2050.

Regulatory changes aim to streamline reactor licensing and environmental reviews, supporting growth in the sector. Constellation Energy and Cameco are positioned to benefit, with Constellation operating the largest U.S. nuclear network and expanding its capacity to 55 gigawatts.

A recent PJM Interconnection auction revealed a 6.8-gigawatt capacity shortfall, pushing prices to a capped $325 per megawatt-day. Uncapped, prices could have reached $554.72, signaling strong demand for reliable power sources.
